About Still Reachable
A reference site for one specific, cheerful moment: you are about to live in another country for a while, and you would like your phone number, your verification codes and your bank login to come along.
What this site is
Every carrier has a rule for how long a number can sit unused before it is recycled. Every bank has a rule for which numbers it will send codes to. Every regulator has a floor under both. Those rules are public, scattered across help centers and PDFs, and they change without much notice. Still Reachable collects them into one place, one card per carrier, one table per country, with the date we last checked printed on every page.
The site is written for three kinds of people who are usually in a good mood: students heading to a university abroad, people starting a job in another country, and anyone leaving home for long enough that a phone bill starts to matter. The tone follows the reader. This is a good problem to have.
What we actually do
- Read the official page. A rule goes on a card only when we found it on the carrier's, bank's or regulator's own site, or in a regulator's published order. Where an official page is unreadable, we use the regulator's rule and a named trade publication, and we label which is which.
- Date it. Each page shows the day it was last verified and when it is due for another look. A rule without a date is a rumor, so we do not publish one.
- Log the changes. When a carrier moves the line, the old rule does not quietly disappear. The change goes on the changelog with its source, so you can see what was true when you left.
- Say "unverified" when we mean it. An empty cell on this site reads "unverified", never "no". Could not find it and does not exist are different things, and we do not pretend to know which one it is.
What we do not do
- We do not test SIM cards, measure speeds or review coverage from experience. When we talk about coverage, we cite the operator's own filings and the regulator's maps.
- We do not give legal, tax, immigration or financial advice. If a page touches your bank, it quotes the bank's published policy and stops there.
- We do not earn from any link at launch. If that changes, the affiliate disclosure will name the program before the first paid link appears.
Who writes it
Pages are published under the byline Still Reachable Editorial, a small team that does the reading, the checking and the re-checking. We use a team byline on purpose: the value of a rule card is the verification behind it, not a personality in front of it, and we would rather not pretend to lived experience we do not have. Our editorial policy describes the process.
Tell us when a rule moves
If a carrier changed something and our card still shows the old rule, or you have the official page we could not find, write to hello@stillreachable.com. Corrections are the fastest way this site gets better, and we credit the change on the changelog.
